L&T Smart World&BU Successfully Commissions Telecom System for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project, Ph-1, inaugurated by the Prime Minister

Smart World and Communication’s Phase I of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi on 30 September 2022 in the presence of Shri. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways; Shri. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs; and Shri. Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included Shri. S. S. Rathore, Managing Director – GMRCL (formerly MEGA), and team.

About the Project

The total length of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-I is about 40.03 km, out of which approximately 6.5 km is underground, and the rest is elevated. The project connects 4 corners of the Ahmedabad city with 2 corridors (East-West and North–South) and 32 stations. Currently, 29 stations are operational.

L&T’s Smart World & Communication business was entrusted with a mandate to deliver the Telecommunication System package in this project within a stringent timeline. The scope of the Telecommunication System covers different sub-systems like TETRA Radio, CCTV, Public Address System, Passenger Information Display System, Access Control and Intrusion Detection System, Integrated Security Communication, Centralized Digital Recording System, Master Clock System, Telecom-SCADA, and Telephone and Office Automation-Information Technology. L&T Smart World has successfully completed the Telecommunication System work within the stipulated timelines, enabling clearance for Revenue Operations (ROD) for both corridors.
